A New Year

Without a doubt, for me, this is a year of change. After 9 years teaching at one school, I have started this year at a different school. It has been a long time since I was "the new kid.'  Not only am I at a new school having to learn all new processes, but I am teaching two new (different) classes, one of which is journalism that comes with no assigned curriculum, and a new grade level. Also, since language arts in our district is finally in an adoption year, I am teaching with a new textbook along with new technology.  I finally have a Smart board (if only I can learn how to use it!)

In spite of all of that, I LOVE this new school.  We have an awesome principal who believes in discipline and supports his teachers.  The teachers are happy and have been very welcoming and helpful.   Finally, my favorite part of teaching, my students, are awesome!

I hope everyone is having a great start to their new year! Watch for upcoming "specials" and give-aways!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year....

...Well, almost! It is one of the most wonderful times of the year.  I must admit, however, that it took me a little longer this year to get out of summer mode.

This past Friday was the first day back for teachers in my district and after 9 years teaching 7th grade language arts at the same middle school, I find myself beginning a new chapter in my career at a different middle school where I will be teaching both 7th and 8th grade language arts along with two journalism classes.

Although it has been a long time since I was the "new kid" in school I was welcomed with open arms by the administrators and faculty at my new school and I can honestly say that I am back in full school mode, both excited and ready for school to begin on August 18th!
